In Need. - Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Every month so many families reach out to Tyler's Mission in need of something and many ask in what what way they can pay it forward.  If you are interested in helping with Tyler's Mission there is always something that needs to be done and something that you too can do.  No job big or small is less important than another.  We constantly are in need of someone to help with the bread ministry, man the phone lines and seek out new sponsors.  Currently we are trying to find individuals who have experience with Grant writing that might be able to assist us in getting a grant to better serve our local community.  If you are interested in helping or making donations feel free to call or write to the number listed at the bottom center of our web page.  God Bless and we ask also that you continue pray for Tyler and his mission.

To contact us - Saturday, January 23, 2010

The phones are back on!  Feel free to call or write as needed!

Response to recent events - Tuesday, January 05, 2010

This statement is on behalf of Tyler, the Strasser family as well as Tyler's Mission staff:

This December over 16,000 families were able to ensure that their children had Christmas due to the efforts of Tyler's Mission and our affiliated supporters.  In these times of economic hardship when so many are still unable to find work regularly many were still willing and able to help those less fortunate.

We were heart broken upon discovering that a volunteer who has helped two years Jeffrey McGee would brake our circle of trust and steal.  Jeffrey was not just a volunteer this is true he is also a member of our family.  Family or not however, what he did was wrong so charges had to be pressed.

Charities are set up to help those in need but unfortunately some see an opportunity to take advantage of the situation with no regard to how their actions will impact others.  Tyler along with all who worked to ensure that every order was filled hope that the Christmas season of 2009 is not remembered by the negative actions of individuals, but rather the positive actions of the majority.

This is not the first time someone has tried to scam or misuse a charity, but it is hard to see anyone you love and care about go to jail.  At the end of the day it is important to remember that Tyler is only 14 and this was his uncle and yes it is very upsetting as anyone can imagine. Please respect Tyler and his families privacy while coming to terms with what has taken place.  This is a time we would ask that you please pray for all parties involved including Jeffrey and continue to have faith in giving with the knowledge that ultimately as Tyler says, "It's for the children".

 Welcome to Tyler's Mission Minimize

Tyler’s Mission is the accumulation of the hopes and dreams of Tyler Strasser. At age three, Tyler’s Mom discovered a gym bag of new toys he had bought with his allowance and had never opened. When asked what they were, Tyler answered, “They were for the children.”

 Tyler’s Mission was born.

Tyler is fourteen years old now and is an old hand at collecting toys for his kids. At first the toys were distributed to children with special needs, Boys and Girls Clubs, AIDS, and the developmental/mentally challenged. He has added children whose military parents are serving overseas, American soldiers serving overseas, needy children throughout several counties, and senior citizens to his list of causes.

When asked why he does this, Tyler is quick to tell you that God told him that it’s his job. Nothing is more beautiful than to see him interact with his children or to see the nursing home residents smile when they see him come in the door. They laugh, sing, and have the best time because they know he really does care.

Local schools, churches, and businesses along with dedicated volunteers have rallied to sponsor young Tyler’s causes. Tyler doesn’t limit his mission to providing gifts. He also helps feed the hungry. For example, a few years ago, he learned that some of his children had gone hungry. He knew he had to do something about it so he personally went to the grocery stores, introduced himself and asked for help in feeding the hungry children and families in need throughout the community.

That is how Breaking The Bread Ministry was brought to life. Starting out by collecting bakery items, his ministry is currently providing produce, fruit, deli foods, canned goods, and meats to feed over 15,000 people each month!

Tyler’s Mission also collects and distributes clothing and other items for shelters, churches, organizations and individuals. This young man and his volunteers processed and filled 150,000 Easter baskets to be distributed to children, nursing homes and individuals during this year's Easter celebrations.

Tyler’s has several long-term plans; one includes creating a safe place for his children to play, which he would call Ever Ever Land and another is Operation Fire and Emergency Rescue which will provide aid for those who have to leave their homes due to fire or disasters, natural or otherwise. He has several more plans to help those in need that will reach out in different ways and better the lives of our communities. He plans to speak to community leaders about helping him achieve these goals.

When he's not helping others, Tyler is a good student, Boy Scout and athlete. This surprisingly soft-spoken child seems actually very shy when you first meet him. However, when it comes to his mission, Tyler lets his voice be heard and nothing stands in his way.

If you would be interested in volunteering, would like to know more, or make a donation, please contact Tyler at the address below.
He would love to hear from you.

Thank you and have a blessed day.
